fall housekeeping

We have 2 books remaining for the year: Love in the Time of Cholera and The Middle Place. Erin and Katie have agreed to be hostesses (and I think Erin is going to do September) for us.

This is the first call for suggestions for next year. I already have 2! So be thinking about what you would like to read in 2010.

Loved this book!

Product Detailsjust finished this book, "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. It was absolutely superb and a very moving story of hope, love, despair, survival, and forgiveness. Just wanted to recommend to you :)

Schedule change

Instead of reading Edgar Sawtelle in October, we decided last night to read "The Middle Place"  by Kelly Corrigan.  It has received great reviews as a fantastic story of how important womens' friendships are.

Thanks again to Christa for organizing last night.  We were so fortunate that it was 'wine wednesday'.  :)

Seriously, I had a wonderful time, and I am so grateful to you all for your friendship and laughter.   ~kris

Hi Everyone!
It should be a great turnout at Carrabbas, tonight, at 7Pm.
Peggy, Jen, Liz, Carrie, Kris, Katie S., Katie G., and myself are confirmed "yes's" and Erin is going to try to meet us there due to Bryant's game at 6.
Look forward to seeing all of you!
I'll put the reservation under my name!

I cheated, but I'm glad....

Hey girls!
Hope everyone had a wonderful St. Patty's. At the last minute, I looked at my kids faces and told them yes we could go to the parade. (even though Derrick had to work) I have to say, we had a great time...the weather was awesome too!
Well, getting back to bookclub...when Derrick was on call the other night I ordered 'The Duchess' starring Kiera Knightley and Ray Fines. I looooved it! But, I'm a sucker for period pieces. I watched the movie before reading the book! A lot of issues to discuss on this one. Can't wait.
Peace out

good book i just read

I just finished this: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It was a very moving book set in WW2 Germany and narrated by Death. But it primarily focuses on a young girl and her foster family. I really enjoyed it and thought I would recommend it to you all.

Well, hellooooo!!!

YAY!  We have our own blog.  We have ARRIVED!!  What a great way for those of us (and by us, I mean me!) whose attendance is sporatic (at best) to keep in touch.  Thanks, Kris, for getting us all set up.  Next time I post, I promise to have something more insightful to share ... maybe!

~Maria

We're up and running!

And everyone can now contribute!!

I made a separate email address and password just for 10MinuteBookClub.  I will email it to everyone, and we can get started!

To post on the blog:

go to www.blogger.com

our sign in name is :  10minbookclub

and I will email you our password.

After you post something, you will need to sign your name to it if you want to be identified; otherwise, it will look like just a general post.

Paperback Swap

this is the website my mom sent me for the book swap. i was talking about it wednesday night. you start with a list of 10 books (could be paperback or hardback) that you are wanting to swap. this gives you 2 credits. then you use your credits to get books from other people. also, after you've sent a book, you get another credit. i think you can search online before you join to see what kinds of things they have. it might be a great way to get books for really cheap b/c all you pay for is the shipping. they even have a tool where you can pay for the shipping and make a label and book cover at home and don't have to go to the post office. :)

here is the website: www.paperbackswap.com
